In short: We do not collect, store, or share any of your personal data or voice recordings. Everything stays on your device.

1. Our Core Privacy Principle

Voice Range Test is built on a fundamental design principle: your voice is yours, and it should stay on your device. All of our microphone-based tools process audio entirely within your browser using the Web Audio API. No audio data is ever uploaded to any server, stored in any database, or shared with any third party. When you close your browser tab, all audio processing data disappears permanently from memory.

This is not a privacy policy that we wrote to satisfy legal requirements. It is the architecture of our application. We designed the tool to work without any server-side audio processing precisely because we believe your voice data should never leave your device.

2. What Happens When You Use Our Test

Here is exactly what happens, step by step, when you use our vocal range test:

  • Microphone access: Your browser asks for permission to use your microphone. This permission is managed entirely by your browser and operating system. We cannot access your microphone without your explicit consent.
  • Audio capture: Once you grant permission, your browser captures audio through the Web Audio API. The audio stream exists only in your browser is temporary memory.
  • Pitch detection: Our JavaScript code analyzes the audio in real-time using autocorrelation analysis. It extracts only the fundamental frequency (pitch) from the audio waveform. The raw audio itself is never stored, recorded, or transmitted.
  • Results display: The detected pitch is displayed on your screen as note names, frequencies, and range data. This is the only output.
  • Session end: When you close the tab or navigate away, all audio data in memory is released. Nothing persists.

3. Local Test History

Our vocal range test offers an optional test history feature that saves your past results (note ranges, voice types, and dates) to your browser is local storage. This data:

  • Is stored only on your device, within your browser is local storage
  • Contains only the note names, voice types, and dates of your tests (not audio)
  • Is never transmitted to any server
  • Can be cleared at any time by clearing your browser data
  • Is completely optional — the test works perfectly without saving any history

4. Cookies and Tracking

We do not use:

  • Tracking cookies of any kind
  • Third-party analytics (no Google Analytics, no Mixpanel, no Hotjar)
  • Advertising cookies or ad networks
